both sides on this fitting are 1-inch BSPP, so it's not stepping up or down in size at all, right?

Correct. Both the male and female ends are G 1-11, which is the standard callout for 1-inch BSPP. You're not changing thread size anywhere in this connection. It's a same-size fitting on both sides, so it just redirects the line at 45 degrees without introducing any size transition.
