thread sizes on both ends match up here, 7/16-20 UNF on the JIC side and R 1/4-19 on the BSPT side?

that's correct on both counts. The JIC end runs a 7/16-20 UNF thread and the BSPT end is R 1/4-19. Both sides are 1/4" nominal size, so you're working with a true 1/4" to 1/4" cross-thread adapter in a 45-degree elbow configuration.
