these come stretched already or do i need to work em onto the groove myself?

Urethane back-up rings in this line are molded at 90A durometer, which gives them enough flexibility to stretch over hardware during installation. Once seated, they snap back to their original shape pretty quickly, so you're not fighting them to get a good fit. No special tooling required for that part of the job.
