fitting's got a 9/16-18 JIC male on one end and M14 x 1.5 female DIN on the other -- that right?

Correct on both counts. The male JIC side runs 9/16-18 UNF, which corresponds to a 3/8" JIC size, and the opposite end is a female M14 x 1.5 DIN tube connection. That combination is exactly what makes this fitting useful when you're bridging a standard SAE 37-degree flare line over to a metric DIN tube system.
