trying to hook a 5/8 jic male line to a 1/2 bspp port, is this the right adapter

For that combo, it matches up as a straight steel adapter from a 5/8 inch JIC male with 7/8-14 UNF threads over to a 1/2 inch female BSPP swivel.

fitting's 47.3mm long, that gonna be enough clearance to thread up in a tight spot without having to reroute the whole line?

At just under two inches, that length works fine for most standard inline connections, but tight quarters can vary a lot depending on what's around it. The 25.5mm and 27mm wrench flats give you decent grip for tightening, so you're not fighting the fitting itself. If the space is really cramped, the bigger concern is usually getting a wrench on it rather than the body length causing a conflict.
