trying to match up an old fitting, is this the straight steel adapter that goes 3/4 jic male to an S20 DIN tube male?

Matches that setup. Side 1 is a 3/4 inch JIC male with a 1-1/16 - 12 UN thread callout, and Side 2 is an S20 DIN tube male with an M30 x 2.0 callout. It is a straight steel adapter.

What exactly is this adapter connecting on each end? Got a JIC fitting on one side and not sure what the other end hooks up to.

One end is a 3/4" JIC male, which runs on a 1-1/16-12 UN thread. The other end is an S20 DIN tube male connection with an M30 X 2.0 thread. So if you've got a metric DIN tube port on one side and a standard JIC line on the other, this is the piece that bridges those two together. Both sides are male, so make sure your mating ports are female on both ends before you order.
