Does this fitting work for plastic tubing, or is it just meant for metal lines?

Plastic, copper, and aluminum tubing all work with this fitting, as long as the tube outside diameter is 0.63 inch. One thing worth knowing if you're running plastic tubing: certain types will require a 2030 insert for a proper connection, and you'll want to check your specific tubing's temperature rating rather than relying on the fitting's range alone. The fitting itself is rated from -65F up to +250F, but that upper limit applies to metal tubing. Plastic may have tighter limits depending on what you're using.
