got a 1/2-14 npt female port already, will this adapter give me a 1/2-14 male end to hook into?

does this swap a female NPT end for a male on the same size line, or is it doing something else?

Both threads on this adapter are 1/2-14 NPT, so yes, one end is female and the other is male. The whole point of a fitting like this is to reverse the thread gender at a connection point without changing the pipe size.
