got a 1/4-18 female npt port and need to step down to 1/8-27 male. is this the right little adapter?

Does this adapter need any thread sealant to keep from leaking, or does it seal up on its own?

The threading tolerances are tight enough that when properly installed, you get a reliable seal on their own.
