got a 1/4-18 female npt port and need to step down to 1/8-27 male. is this the right little adapter?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 1, 2026, 6:55 AM
For that thread combo, it matches what you described. One end is 1/4-18 female NPTF and the other end is 1/8-27 male NPTF, and it is a straight pipe-to-pipe brass adapter.

Does this adapter need any thread sealant to keep from leaking, or does it seal up on its own?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 7, 2026, 9:29 AM
Brass NPT threads on this adapter are precision-cut to form a secure, leak-proof mechanical connection without requiring sealant. The threading tolerances are tight enough that when properly installed, you get a reliable seal on their own. That said, many folks still apply a thread sealant or tape out of habit, and there's nothing wrong with doing so if that's what your setup calls for.

Will this work to connect a 1/4" female fitting to a 1/8" male fitting?
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 25, 2025, 6:16 AM
This brass adapter is made to connect exactly that: a 1/4-18 female NPT fitting to a 1/8-27 male NPT fitting.
