does this adapter need teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads, or is it good to go as-is?

No sealant is required on either end. The NPT side uses an NPTF connection, which is a dryseal thread form that creates a pressure-tight seal through metal-to-metal thread contact alone. The JIC 37-degree flare end seals at the flare seat, not the threads. Running it dry is the correct installation method here.
