The Brass Adapter 3/8-18 Male NPT to 7/8-14 Male SAE 45 deg Flare 90 deg Elbow is ideal for applications requiring reliable and secure connections. Made by Danfoss Power Solutions (Aeroquip Inc-Alternate) this adapter is designed for use in LP and natural gas systems instrumentation refrigeration power steering and both hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

This adaptable male elbow features a 1.2300 drop dimension and is constructed to meet the rigorous demands of industrial environments. End Type 1 is NPTF with a 0.375 end size while End Type 2 is SAE with a 0.875 end size ensuring compatibility with various systems.

With a minimum working temperature of -65 degrees this adapter is versatile for different conditions and it does not require thread sealant. Designed for efficiency and reliability it features a 3/8-18 thread on End 1 and a 7/8-14 thread on End 2.

Will this elbow adapter hold up okay in a power steering system?

does this adapter need any thread sealant when you put it together, or is it good to go as-is?

No sealant needed on either end. The NPT side is NPTF, which is a dryseal thread form that makes a pressure-tight seal through thread interference alone. You can run it without tape or compound and it'll hold just fine in gas, hydraulic, pneumatic, and refrigeration setups.
