tubing I got is polybutylene, about 3/16 OD, will that push right into this fitting or do I need something different?

Polybutylene tubing is one of the compatible types for this fitting, and the 0.19 inch tube OD is what it's built around. That works out to just about 3/16, so you're in the right range. When you push the tube in, the gripping teeth catch it and the Buna-N O-ring seals against the outside diameter. One thing worth knowing is the tubing needs to be in decent shape at the cut end, clean and square, so the teeth get a solid bite and the O-ring seats right.
