Question by: Steve T on Apr 1, 2025, 4:15 PM
trying to swap out a barb fitting i busted, what hose size and thread is this one set up for
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 2, 2025, 9:57 PM
It’s a short shank brass hose barb made for 0.50 inch hose ID, and the threaded end is 3/8-18 NPSM female swivel (female NPT swivel style).
Question by: Wade H on Apr 3, 2025, 2:34 PM
fitting's got a 1/2 inch barb end -- does the swivel side thread onto a standard 3/8 female NPT port or is it something different?
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 5, 2025, 7:20 AM
Close, but worth clarifying. The swivel end uses 3/8-18 NPSM threading, which is straight mechanical thread rather than tapered NPT. NPSM and NPT share the same thread pitch and diameter, so they will engage, but NPSM relies on a sealing surface or gasket at the face rather than thread taper interference. If your port is a standard 3/8 NPT, make sure there is a proper mating surface for the swivel to seal against.

Will this fitting work for low-pressure fluid transfer?
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 24, 2025, 12:46 PM
Primarily designed for low-pressure fluid transfer, suction, and discharge, this brass fitting should suit your needs in those applications.
