What exactly does a blanking cap do, and is this the right part for plugging off an unused 3/8 BSPP port?

A blanking cap threads onto an open female port to seal it off completely, keeping fluid in and contaminants out. This one fits a 3/8-19 female BSPP port, so if you've got an unused port with that thread spec, it'll do the job. The 60 degree seat helps form a solid seal at the connection point. Zinc plated steel construction means it holds up reasonably well in typical hydraulic environments.

Will this cap fit a standard 3/8 BSP fitting I got here?
