what exactly is "cold galvanizing" and does this stuff actually hold up like real galvanizing does?

Cold galvanizing puts a high-zinc coating on metal surfaces without any heat or dipping process. Hot-dip galvanizing bonds zinc into the steel at a molecular level, so it is the stronger of the two methods long-term.
