got a cylinder that won’t come back down smooth, could a sticky release valve be the culprit?

In a lot of Enerpac hydraulic setups, the release valve assembly is what controls pressure relief and lets fluid return so the cylinder can retract. If that valve is not working right, it can affect how the return stroke behaves and how safely the system pressure is released after the work is done.

Got an old Enerpac pump that needs a new release valve, will part number DA8786900SR or the alternate C1JE35 get me what I need, or are those two different parts?

Both numbers refer to the same assembly. DA8786900SR is the primary SKU and supplier part number, and C1JE35 is just an alternate part number for the exact same component. Either one gets you the genuine Enerpac release valve assembly, so if you found it listed under C1JE35 somewhere else, you're looking at the same part.
