Question by: Dustin T on Dec 1, 2025, 5:55 PM
tape's rated for outdoor use underground too, or just above ground wrapping?
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 3, 2025, 6:56 AM
Both, actually. It holds up above and below ground without breaking down from water, soil organics, acids, or salts. The petrolatum-based compound keeps moisture and corrosion from getting through regardless of whether the pipe is buried or exposed.

got a rusty valve body and some old coating on it, do I need to sandblast it clean before wrapping this tape
Answer by: Customer Support on Aug 10, 2025, 6:20 AM
Densyl Tape is made to go on marginally prepared surfaces, so you do not have to have a perfect blast-clean finish for it to work. It also conforms well around valves, flanges, and other irregular shapes.

How warm can this tape get before it starts to fail?
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 12, 2025, 6:24 AM
The maximum service temperature for this Denso tape is 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
