This Eaton Vickers DPS2-20 Series Differential Pressure Sense Cartridge Valve is a poppet style, bi-directional, normally closed logic element valve with a 2:1 pilot to close ratio.

Featuring a fixed stroke adjustment style, this screw-in cartridge valve is designed for mobile and industrial applications such as harvesters and refuse haulers. It is suitable for use as a main section of a pilot controlled valve assembly with directional, flow, or pressure control cartridges. It has a 80 GPM maximum flow rate and a 5000 PSI maximum operating pressure (poppet type). It is made with Buna-N seals, and requires a cleanliness code of 18/16/13.

what's the max pressure this poppet style cartridge can handle before it starts causing problems?

Poppet type versions of the DPS2-20 series are rated up to 5000 PSI operating pressure. That puts it well above the spool type, which tops out at 4200 PSI. If your system runs at higher pressures, the poppet style is the one to go with between the two options.
