Sg 1 Cut The Hose
Cut the Hose to Proper Length. Be Sure the Cut is Made Square to the Hose Length
Sg 2 Slip On Two Clips
Install Two Proper-Sized Clips Onto the Cut End of the Hose
Sg 3 Oil The Nipple
Lubricate the Nipple with a Generous Amount of the Refrigeration or A/C System's Compressor Oil. This Must be Done to Lower the Force of Nipple Insertion
Sg 4 Insert The Nipple Into The Hose
Insert the Nipple into the Hose. There Should be No Gap Between the End of the Hose and the Shoulder on the Nipple. Avoid Kinking or Damaging the Hose While Inserting Nipple
Sg 5 Snap On The Cage
Snap the Cage into the Groove on the Nipple. When the Cage Has Been Correctly Installed in the Cage Groove, the Cage Will be Able to Rotate in the Groove
Sg 6 Slide The Clips
Slide the Clips Over the Cage Arms and into the Channels on Each Arm
Sg 7 Close The Clips
Use the FT1357 Clip Closing Pliers to Close the Clips. The Pliers Should be Positioned Squarely on the Clip Connection Points and Should Remain Square During the Closing of the Clip

what all do I need to actually put this fitting together? trying to make sure I got everything before I start

You'll need a few specific items to do it right. A pair of FT1357 Clip Closing Pliers are required to close the clips once everything is seated. You'll also need a guillotine blade cutter or something equivalent to get a clean square cut on the hose. Two appropriately sized clips and a cage per fitting, the GH134 Multi-Refrigerant hose, and refrigerant oil compatible with your A/C or refrigeration system round out the list. The nipple assembly comes with two black o-rings already on it, and those should stay put. Don't remove or replace them.

got a -12 A/C hose and not much room to work. is this the kind of fitting that goes on without a crimper?

For tight spots, the E-Z Clip setup is meant to go together without power tools or crimping. You cut the hose square, slide on two clips, oil the nipple with the system’s refrigeration or compressor oil, push the nipple in until there’s no gap at the shoulder, snap the cage in the groove, then slide and close the clips using FT1357 clip closing pliers.
