Designed for truck and trailer air brake systems the Nylon Air Brake Tubing Black 0.50 Inch OD 0.06 Inch Wall Thickness 100 Feet Per Pack is engineered to meet the performance requirements of SAE J844 J1131 and J2494-3 DOT-FMVSS 106.
This tubing features superior abrasion resistance over rubber and Nylon 11 enhanced flexibility and non-conductive properties making it ideal for auxiliary air systems formed tubes and harness assemblies. The tube is UV stabilized and thermoformable with a minimum bend radius of just 2 inches.
Constructed from 100% polyamide with polyester yarn reinforcement it ensures durability across a temperature range of -65deg;F to 200deg;F. The premium construction includes synthetic fiber reinforcement and a lay line style of Ink Jet. The outer diameter is 0.50 inches and the inner diameter is 0.38 inches with a wall thickness of 0.06 inches offering improved flow performance.

trying to make a tighter bend around a bracket, how sharp can i bend this 1/2" OD tubing without kinkin it
Answer by: Customer Support on Aug 17, 2025, 6:33 AM
For tight routing, the minimum bend radius called out for this tubing is 2 inches. Keeping your bend at or above that radius helps it form without kinking.

tubing rated for actual air brake use or is it more of a general purpose line?
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 24, 2025, 11:04 AM
Built specifically for truck and trailer air brake systems, this nylon tubing meets SAE J844, J1131, and J2494-3 as well as DOT-FMVSS 106, so it qualifies for real air brake service, not just general hydraulic connections work. It also works for auxiliary air systems and formed harness assemblies. The 100% polyamide construction with polyester yarn reinforcement handles a temperature range of -65°F to 200°F, which covers the kind of operating conditions you run into on commercial vehicles year round.

What's the smallest you can bend this tubing without kinking it?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 21, 2026, 4:40 PM
The manufacturer says you can get a bend radius down to 2 inches without problems.
