Ideal for industrial applications this compact heat exchanger features a high-efficiency finned bundle design. The unit made by API Heat Transfer includes materials such as copper or copper-nickel tubes aluminum fins grey iron end caps and a steel shell. The maximum operating temperature is 250F.
With a 2-pass copper tube design it ensures effective heat transfer and substantial heat removal up to 400 HP. The robust construction offers a pressure rating of 500 PSI on the shell side and 150 PSI on the tube side.
Oil connections measure 1-1/2 NPT and water connections at 3/4 NPT supporting oil flow rates up to 80 GPM. Removable end caps allow for easy maintenance and mounting brackets can be adjusted in 90 increments for optimal installation flexibility.
Optional features include a built-in SURGE-CUSHION relief bypass valve for added safety and operational efficiency. The API Heat Transfer EK Series heat exchanger is a versatile and reliable choice for demanding industrial environments.

What's the max temp this thing can handle?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 4, 2026, 6:16 AM
This EK Series heat exchanger is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
Question by: Gene W on May 27, 2025, 2:54 PM
Oil connections on this one are 1-1/2 NPT and water side is 3/4 NPT -- just want to make sure I got that right before I go cutting into my lines. That accurate?
Answer by: Customer Support on May 29, 2025, 10:38 AM
Correct on both counts. Oil ports are 1-1/2 NPT and the water connections come in at 3/4 NPT. With oil flow capacity up to 80 GPM and those larger oil port sizes, entering and exiting flow restriction stays pretty minimal, which matters a lot when you're trying to keep pressure drop manageable in a working system.
Question by: Shane T on Feb 22, 2026, 9:01 AM
got a hydraulic unit that runs pretty warm. what kind of flow and horsepower heat can this EK-712-T exchanger actually handle?
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 23, 2026, 4:07 PM
For performance, this 2-pass copper tube EK series unit is rated for heat removal up to 400 HP and it supports oil flow rates up to 80 GPM. It uses a high-efficiency finned bundle in a compact shell to pull heat out of the oil using water through the tube side.
