got a -6 hose I'm trying to terminate with a 3/8 male pipe thread end, this the right fitting for that?

That's what this one's built for. The FC5985-0606S connects a -6 dash size hose to a 3/8 inch male pipe thread port. Carbon steel construction, so it holds up well in working conditions. If your hose is a -6 and the port takes a 3/8 MPT, you're good to go.
