FCR51 Series 3-Port Pressure Compensated Priority Flow Control Valve With Relief

Description & Features

Designed for precision performance the Brand Hydraulics Inc. FCR51 Series 3-Port Pressure Compensated Priority Flow Control Valve With Relief provides efficient flow regulation. Its cast iron body and heat-treated steel spools ensure durability while the diamond-honed spool bore maintains low leakage.

The valve features a high lift ball spring relief valve and a maximum operating pressure of 3000 PSI. Precision ground chrome plated spools contribute to long-lasting operation. The flow rate can be adjusted from 0 to 30 GPM and the port size is 3/4 NPT.

Every valve undergoes factory testing for shutoff linearity maximum flow and pressure compensation. The FCR-51 variable flow control is engineered to provide consistent performance by adjusting the orifice area with lever rotation. The flow through the CF port responds proportionally to the orifice area while the EX port must be directed back to the tank for proper relief function.

Material components include Buna-N O-Rings standard with an option for stainless steel spools. The system is pressure compensated by a spool that maintains constant flow while balancing pressure.

Question by: Glen M on Sep 11, 2025, 6:26 AM
flow goes out the CF port fine but where does the EX port need to go -- can it just dead-end somewhere or does it have to run back to tank?
Answer by: Customer Support on Sep 12, 2025, 6:34 PM
The EX port has to be plumbed back to tank. That's not optional. When pressure on the CF port climbs above the relief setting, the relief valve opens and pushes excess flow out through EX. If that port is blocked or dead-ended, the relief has nowhere to send the flow and it won't function the way it's supposed to. Both the controlled flow from CF and the excess from EX will always add up to your total inlet flow, so routing EX to tank is just part of making the whole system work right.

What kind of filtration is recommended for this valve?
Answer by: Customer Support on Aug 27, 2025, 6:28 AM
Brand Hydraulics recommends a 30 micron filter for this valve.
