Does this thing just slide onto the hose, or do you need clamps or adhesive to hold it in place?

Friction fit is all it takes. The restrictor slips over the hose near the coupling and stays put on its own. No clamps, no glue, nothing extra to track down. That alone saves a fair amount of fuss during installation.
