The HF4RT Series In-Tank Return Filter is specifically designed for return lines in mobile and industrial hydraulic systems. Measuring 23 inches in length this filter features a high-performance 5 Micron Absolute C-pak element ensuring superior filtration. This unit is constructed with an aluminum head and cover along with a carbon steel bowl ensuring durability and longevity in demanding applications.

Suitable for use with petroleum-based fluids and most water glycol oil-in-water and water-in-oil fluids this filter comes with standard Buna-N seals. It is designed to comply with ANSI specifications and ISO cleanliness standards guaranteeing consistent and reliable performance. This filter also includes a 0-160 PSI gauge for monitoring purposes and operates efficiently within a temperature range of -25deg;F to 250deg;F.

The filter head is equipped with a 1/8 NPT tapped and plugged port for an optional pressure gauge or switch. Rated for a maximum operating pressure of 100 PSI it offers a flow rating of 100 GPM for the 18-inch element. The in-tank design minimizes potential leakage points and space requirements making it an ideal choice for compact system configurations.

Will this filter work with standard hydraulic fluid, or do I need something special?

It's suitable for petroleum-based fluids, most water glycol, oil-in-water, and water-in-oil fluids right out of the box. Just keep in mind that if you're running synthetic fluids, you'll need to swap out the standard Buna-N seals for optional Viton® seals.

got a tight reservoir setup. is this one of them in-tank return filters that helps cut down on leak points?

In-tank mounting is the whole idea with the HF4RT return filter, so you are not stacking extra external fittings in the return line. That layout helps save space and reduces potential leak points compared to a more external hydraulic connections approach.
