hose says it's got a spring guard on it, is that just on one end or does it run the whole length?

On the 1/4" ID polyurethane hoses in this line, the spring guard is the protection style used rather than the plastic hose guards you'll find on the larger ID versions. It wraps at the end to keep the hose from kinking at the connection point, which is where most of the stress and bending happens during use. Keeps the service life up and prevents that sharp-angle failure you'd otherwise get right at the fitting.
