The SPX Hydraulic Technologies HNS Series Hydraulic Nut Splitter is designed to remove damaged or corroded nuts with a hex range of 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches for Nut Grades 2 (or A) and 5 (or B); 1/2 to 1-5/16 inches for Nut Grade 8 (or C); and 1/2 to 1-1/8 inches for Nut Grade 2H.
Featuring a durable, one-piece cutting frame and a heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder, this nut splitter can be used in confined spaces. The "dial-in" feature simplifies adjustments, preventing damage to bolts. The tool steel cutter blade is designed to crack the nut without damaging bolt threads, and is more resistant to chipping and breaking than previous models. Simply split the nut on one side, rotate the HNS Series Hydraulic Nut Splitter 1/2 turn, and make a second cut on the opposite side for easy removal.
What size nuts will this thing split? I'm mainly working with Grade 5 and some Grade 8.

For Grade 2 (or A) and Grade 5 (or B) nuts, this splitter handles sizes from 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inches. It also covers Grade 8 (or C) nuts in the 1/2 inch to 1-5/16 inch range, and Grade 2H nuts from 1/2 inch to 1-1/8 inch.

Got a 1-1/4 inch Grade 8 nut that's been seized up on a piece of farm equipment for who knows how long. This thing gonna handle it?

Grade 8 nuts up to 1-5/16 inches fall within the rated hex range for this splitter, so a 1-1/4 inch fits with room to spare. The cutter blade is tool steel and is built to crack the nut without touching the bolt threads underneath. For a fused or rusted-on Grade 8, the process is straightforward: split one side, rotate the tool a half turn, make the second cut, and the nut comes off in two halves. The one-piece cutting frame and heavy-duty cylinder give it enough force to work through even badly corroded fasteners in that size range.
