runs up to 2000 PSI on this thing, but we're using it on a lower-pressure pneumatic line most of the time. brass gonna hold up alright for that kind of duty?

Brass is actually the right call for pneumatic systems and lower-pressure hydraulic work. The 2000 PSI rating covers your higher-end use cases, but brass valves in this lineup are specifically noted for pneumatic service and lighter hydraulic applications. The Viton o-ring and Teflon washer seal hold up well across a wide temperature range too, from -15°F all the way up to 400°F, so everyday pneumatic duty is well within what this valve handles comfortably.

got a little hydraulic circuit i need to tame down, will this valve let me dial the flow while the line is still pressurized?

Adjustments can be made under pressure on this easy read needle valve, and it is meant for controlled flow in both directions. Once you get the setting where you want it, the set screw lets you lock it in.

does this valve work for both air and hydraulic lines, or just one or the other?

Brass construction makes it a solid fit for pneumatic systems and lower pressure hydraulic applications. The 2000 PSI max and 10 GPM flow rating cover a good range of those uses. Just keep in mind that for higher pressure hydraulic work, steel body valves are the better call. For air lines and moderate hydraulic setups, this one handles it fine.

How tight can I lock down the flow on this thing? I need it nearly shut off for a very slow feed.

This needle valve allows for accurate adjustments within a small fraction of a turn, or one full turn per color marking, so you should be able to dial in a very precise flow. Plus, you can lock your setting in place with the set screw.
