got a tight spot between two plates. how much gap do i need before the jaws will even bite?
Answer by: Customer Support on May 19, 2025, 8:38 PM
With the jaws fully collapsed, it only needs 1.25 inches of tip clearance to engage, so you can get it started in pretty tight spaces.
Question by: Freddie G on Jan 1, 2026, 4:19 PM
only got about an inch and a quarter of clearance to slip these jaws in, is that gonna be enough to get this thing started?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 3, 2026, 7:21 AM
Yeah, 1.25 inches is exactly what this spreader needs to engage the jaws. That's the collapsed tip clearance it was built around, so you're right at the edge and it'll work fine. No need to pre-open anything or modify your setup.
