got a hose with a -8 dash on it, is this the right hose end size or am i mixing stuff up

For hose size, this one is built for a -8 hose dash size. On the port end, it is a male NPTF fitting with a 0.5 end size.

What kind of corrosion resistance does this fitting have?

does this fitting work with a -8 hose, or do i need something different for that size?
