What kind of corrosion protection does this fitting actually have on it? Running equipment outside year-round and rust has killed more than a few fittings on me.

Dura-Kote plating is applied to the exterior of these fittings specifically to hold up against corrosion. Carbon steel fittings without that kind of surface treatment tend to rust out pretty fast in outdoor or wet conditions, so the plating is there to extend the usable life of the assembly rather than just being a cosmetic finish.

got a hose with a -8 end, is this 08E-608 the right female JIC 37 fitting for it?
