what size hose does this fitting hook up to, and is that a standard PTF thread on the male end?

The male end runs a 3/8 in. PTF SAE Short thread, and the hose end is sized for a -8 dash size hose. Both of those are standard specs in air brake line work, so if your hose and port match up to those dimensions, this assembly will fit right in.
