got a 1/2 inch black iron line and need to branch it off, is this the right kind of tee?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jul 19, 2025, 6:18 AM
For splitting one run into two, a 1/2 inch female tee is the standard fitting for that job. All three openings are female and threaded to the American Briggs Standard, so it is meant to mate with 1/2 inch male pipe threads.
Question by: Jean B on Jan 30, 2026, 1:37 PM
fitting threads to American Briggs standard -- does that mean it'll work with standard iron pipe I already got on hand?
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 1, 2026, 8:26 AM
American Briggs Standard threading is the same specification used across common iron pipe fittings, so yes, it'll mate up with standard threaded pipe without any adapter needed. The chamfered openings on each end help guide the pipe in straight during assembly, which cuts down on the chance of cross-threading when you're putting it together.

Will this tee work with standard black iron pipe I picked up at the hardware store?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jul 18, 2025, 6:40 PM
These tees are threaded to the American Briggs Standard, so they should be compatible with any pipe also made to that standard.
