The Danfoss / Eaton Char-Lynn J Series Spool Geroler is designed for precision performance in demanding applications such as agricultural augers, harvesters, seeders, marine bow thrusters, and food processing equipment.
Featuring a displacement of 1.93 cu in/rev, a robust 5 Bolt 1/4-28UNF Mounting Flange, and a 5/8 in. Straight Keyed Shaft, this motor ensures reliable operation. Key attributes include compact dimensions for easy installation, extended bearing life for enhanced durability, and a superior seal design that minimizes leakage. The motor ports are 9/16-18 St.Thd. O-Ring End Ports, ensuring secure hydraulic connections.
Maximum case pressure without a case drain is 1100 PSI, with a recommended fluid viscosity range of 100-200 SUS. To maximize motor longevity, a break-in period at 30% of rated pressure is advised. The operating temperature should not exceed 180deg; F, and high-quality, anti-wear hydraulic fluids are recommended for optimal performance. Filtration should comply with ISO Cleanliness Code level 18/13.

im hydraulic connections this into a system where back pressure might creep over 1100 psi sometimes. is that gonna blow out the seals
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 14, 2026, 5:24 PM
For continuous back pressure over 1100 PSI, an external case drain line is required. You will need to install that drain line so the motor case stays completely full of fluid at all times to prevent internal damage.

got a 5 bolt mount on my setup, are the holes 1/4-28 on this motor?
Answer by: Customer Support on Oct 18, 2025, 6:50 AM
Mounting is the 5 bolt pattern with 1/4-28 UNF threaded holes, so it matches equipment that calls for a 5 bolt 1/4-28UNF mounting flange.

Will this motor work okay in a food processing plant?
Answer by: Customer Support on May 22, 2025, 9:58 AM
This J Series motor is indeed suitable for food processing applications, among others like agricultural augers and marine bow thrusters.

got a new auger drive im setting up. what kinda break in does this motor need before i put it to work
Answer by: Customer Support on May 30, 2025, 4:38 PM
For best life, run it about one hour at roughly 30 percent of rated pressure before you put it under full load. Make sure the motor case is filled with hydraulic fluid before you apply any load.
Question by: Floyd E on Jan 26, 2026, 10:18 AM
what's the max back pressure this motor can handle before I'd need to run a case drain line?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 27, 2026, 7:24 PM
Without a case drain, you're good up to 1100 PSI continuous back pressure. Once you push past that, you'll want to run an external case drain line, and when you do, make sure the line is set up so the motor case stays full of fluid at all times. Running it dry even briefly can cause premature wear on the internals.
