part number J12E, is that the body only, or does it come with the ferrules too?

Body only on this one. The J12E is just the elbow body itself, so you'd need to source the compatible ferrules or sleeves separately to complete the compression fitting assembly. Worth double-checking that whatever ferrules you're running are rated for use with SSP fittings before putting it all together.

Will this elbow body work with any standard 3/4" compression fittings, or do I need to use SSP brand fittings with it?
