what exactly is the "2UG x 1/4 MP" part of the name telling me? trying to figure out if this fits what i already got on hand

The 2UG refers to the hose end configuration, and the 1/4" MP stands for male pipe at a quarter-inch size. So you're looking at a hose end that connects a 2UG-style hose fitting on one side to a quarter-inch male pipe thread on the other. If your existing setup uses that thread size and hose type, it should line up.
