The 1000/400/500 Series MIL-C-4109 Industrial Interchange Air Swing Coupling Female Half With Safety Vent -08 Coupling 1/2-14 Female NPT supplied by RTC North America Ltd is designed for robust industrial applications. Featuring a pin latching mechanism and a protective collar this coupling minimizes accidental snagging and unintentional disconnection. Its standard seal material is Buna-N and the body is constructed from zinc and nickel-plated steel delivering durability and reliability.

How does this thing keep from gettin' snagged on stuff and disconnected by accident?

does this thing vent off the air pressure before it fully disconnects, or do you just get a blast of air when you pull it apart?

Safe automatic venting of trapped air happens during the disconnect process, so you're not getting a sudden pressure release all at once. The swing coupling design lets you retract the release sleeve and swing the assembly to an angled position, which bleeds off the pressure in a controlled way before the halves fully separate. That's one of the main reasons this series gets used in air tool applications where you'd rather not have pressurized air kicking back at you every time you break a connection.
