trying to match up parts here, is this the 37 degree flare nipple for a -8 hose and do i need to buy the socket separate

For a -8 hose setup, it’s a 37° flare nipple style fitting and the socket is not included, so you would need the socket separately.

Socket ain't included with this one -- do I need to order that separate, or is there a specific Eaton Aeroquip socket that goes with it?

The socket is sold separately for this fitting. The nipple itself carries catalog number C1MM56 under the Eaton Aeroquip line, and it's built for -8 hose with a 37-degree flare configuration.
