Bearings	Deep-grooved ball bearings.
Input Shafts	1 inch diameter or smaller.
Output Shafts	1 inch male or female, 1-1/2 inch male.
Performance and Operation	Estimated Hours Working Life = 1500 x [Cn / (2.378 x Overhung Load)]³ See table for model's Cn number, which varies with RPM. Overhung load is in pounds. Calculation based on overhung load applied at 1-3/8 inches out from housing (see side view). Bearing life will increase significantly if load is positioned closer to unit.

Will this adapter keep crud out of my motor's shaft seal, or is it mostly for big loads?

Primarily, this adapter protects motors, pumps, and brakes from axial and radial stresses caused by side loads. It's also helpful for guarding their shaft seals from contaminants, which is a common reason for motor failure.
