Two-speed on a hand pump, how much does that actually cut down on the pumping before it gets to load?

Quite a bit, honestly. The two-stage setup on this pump delivers high flow first, which moves the cylinder or tool up to the workpiece fast without a lot of handle strokes. Once it hits resistance, the pump automatically shifts to the high-pressure, low-flow stage to build force. Enerpac rates the stroke reduction at up to 78% compared to a single-speed pump, so your operator isn't standing there working the handle forever just to close the gap before the real work starts.

got a cylinder that needs 10,000 psi sometimes. will this little hand pump keep up or am i pushing it too hard

Rated capacity on this pump is 10,000 psi (700 bar), and it has an internal pressure relief valve for overload protection. So running up to 10,000 psi is within what it is built for, not beyond it.
