Does this cap need any thread sealant or extra sealing parts to fit right, or does it just go on as-is?

No additional sealing components are needed. The cap is built to seat securely on its own, so thread sealant, check valves, or anything along those lines would just be unnecessary. Pull it out of the box and it's ready to go.
