Pump-Mounted Manual Valve, SPX 3 POSITION MANUAL VALVE ASSEMBLY

Description & Features

This SPX 3 POSITION MANUAL VALVE ASSEMBLY is a pump-mounted manual valve, designed for single strand, double-acting stressing jacks with Power Wedge seaters.

This valve is lever operated and detent positioned. It is compatible with PA17*, PA46*, PA55, PE17*, PE21*, PE30, PE46*, PE55, PE60, PE84, PE120, PE200, PE400, PG30*, PG55, PG120, and PQ60 series pumps (*These pumps may have reduced first flow stage characteristics due to internal valve restrictions). During operation, the valve's center position starts the pump. Position “A” pressurizes the “Pull” portion to specified cable tension, checked internally and released by building pressure in position “B”. Position “B” is pressure controlled to a maximum of 6,400 psi, pressurizing the "Return" portion and releasing port “A” when pressure reaches approximately one-half of the “A” port pressure. The “A” port remains open as long as this pressure differential is maintained. Stopping the pump and placing the valve in position “A” releases “B” port pressure.

Question by: Duane D on Nov 25, 2025, 1:00 PM
Can this valve handle continuous use on a construction site, or is it more for occasional jobs?
Answer by: Customer Support on Nov 27, 2025, 8:43 AM
Use-case-first: For tasks like tensioning cables with a stressing jack, this valve is well-suited, but how long it lasts really depends on the specific conditions it’s exposed to and how often you're using it.

got a PA46 pump and a single-strand stressing jack with a Power Wedge seater. is this the right valve to bolt on?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jul 20, 2025, 6:08 PM
For that setup, it is a pump-mounted, lever operated 3-position manual valve made for single strand, double-acting stressing jacks with a Power Wedge seater, and it is listed as compatible with PA46 series pumps. One note on the PA46 models marked with an asterisk is they may have reduced first flow stage characteristics because of internal valve restrictions.

how does the "A" port stay pressurized when you move over to the "B" position? seems like it'd just bleed off
Answer by: Customer Support on Jul 13, 2025, 6:09 AM
The "A" port is checked internally, so pressure holds there even after you shift the valve to "B" position. It won't release until the "B" side builds to roughly half the pressure sitting on the "A" port. Once that differential is met, "A" releases on its own. Long as you keep that pressure difference going, "A" stays open. To fully dump "B" port pressure when you're done, you stop the pump and cycle the valve back to "A."
