got a pull job coming up. how do you actually use that hollow center on this cylinder

With the hollow plunger, you can run a threaded steel rod through the center bore and attach it to your load. That setup lets the cylinder apply force in either direction, so you can push, pull, lift, or put tension on a part depending on how you fixture it.

hollow bore on this thing, can you actually run a threaded rod clean through it to pull something toward you, or is it push only?

Pull and push both work with this cylinder. The hollow bore runs through the center, so you can thread a rod through it, attach it to your load, and either pull the load toward the cylinder or push against it depending on how you set things up. That center hole design is exactly what separates this style from a standard solid plunger cylinder.
