Enerpac | 48.1 ton Capacity, 2.38 in Stroke, Low Height Hydraulic Cylinder | RCS502

Description & Features

Rated for 10,000 psi (700 bar) and built around a compact low-profile form factor, the 48.1 ton Capacity, 2.38 in Stroke, Low Height Hydraulic Cylinder from Enerpac is well suited for lifting and production applications where vertical clearance is restricted. The 3.5 in bore diameter and 2.38 in stroke are housed in a design sized to fit confined spaces without sacrificing load capacity.

Part of the Enerpac RCS Series, this cylinder uses a single-acting, spring-return mechanism, eliminating dependence on load weight for plunger retraction and making it faster to cycle. Plated steel plungers with a grooved end and threaded holes allow for tilt saddle mounting, adding versatility in both vertical and horizontal orientations. A built-in plunger wiper reduces contamination ingress, and the baked enamel finish provides corrosion resistance for use in demanding industrial environments. A CR-400 coupler and dust cap are included. Weighing 22 lbs, this cylinder balances durability with portability.

Question by: Ricky R on Mar 25, 2026, 5:49 PM
Does this cylinder retract on its own or do I need to bleed pressure and let the load push it back down?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 27, 2026, 12:24 PM
Built into every RCS-series cylinder is a return spring, so once you release pressure the plunger comes back up on its own without needing the load's weight to push it down. That makes it a lot more practical when you're working horizontal or in a spot where the load can't do that work for you.
Question by: Lee J on Aug 21, 2025, 4:27 PM
tight spot under a machine frame, will this jack still work ok or does it have to be straight up and down
Answer by: Customer Support on Aug 22, 2025, 8:18 PM
For cramped setups, the low collapsed height and short 2.38 inch stroke are what make the RCS-502 a good fit. It’s built for stability in both vertical and horizontal orientations, so it is not limited to only straight up and down use.
