Designed for confined spaces with as little as 1⅝ inches of clearance, this 30-ton capacity cylinder operates at 10,000 PSI in compliance with ASME B30.1. The RLS Series Low Profile Single-Acting Cylinder from SPX Hydraulic Technologies features a domed piston rod that helps minimize the effects of off-center loading during use.
The cylinder body, piston, and gland nut are treated with SPX's "Power Tech" process for corrosion and abrasion resistance. A heavy-duty spring provides fast piston return, and each unit ships with an angled 3/8" NPTF female half coupler (A 9796) as standard, the angled orientation provides additional clearance in tight working environments. The oil port is also 3/8" NPTF. Extended height measures 2.813 inches, making this cylinder well-suited for low-clearance lifting and pressing applications in industrial settings.

Question by: Phil M on Jun 11, 2025, 2:28 PM
What kinda space do I need to work with this cylinder? I'm in a pretty tight spot.
Answer by: Customer Support on Jun 12, 2025, 8:39 PM
It'll fit in spaces with as little as 1 5/8 inches of clearance. When extended, it reaches 2.813 inches.
Question by: Earl E on Jan 7, 2026, 12:12 PM
clearance on this thing is real tight where I need to use it -- we're talkin maybe an inch and three quarters of space. that gonna be enough room to get this cylinder in and workin?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 8, 2026, 8:27 PM
At its collapsed height, this cylinder sits at 1 and 5/8 inches minimum clearance, with an extended height of 2.813 inches. So if you've got an inch and three quarters to start, you're right at the edge of the working range but technically within spec. The angled coupler that ships standard with it helps too, since it's positioned to give you a little extra room in tight spots rather than sticking straight out into your already limited clearance.
