Question by: Jimmy C on Jan 31, 2026, 7:29 AM
got a line that needs half inch stainless tube, what are the actual sizes on this one?
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 1, 2026, 9:13 AM
Size-wise, you are looking at 0.50 inch outside diameter tubing with a 0.049 inch wall, which puts the inside diameter at about 0.402 inch.
Question by: Troy F on Jul 23, 2025, 6:58 PM
got a line that needs half inch tubing, is this one actually 0.50 OD and what’s the inside size on it?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jul 25, 2025, 10:22 AM
Dimension-wise, it is 0.500 inch outside diameter with a 0.049 inch wall, which puts the inside diameter at about 0.402 inch.
Question by: Warren P on Dec 6, 2025, 10:22 AM
working pressure on this tubing is listed at 2450 psi, but what safety factor is that based on? trying to figure out if we got enough headroom for a system that sees some shock loading
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 8, 2025, 6:59 AM
That 2450 psi working pressure is calculated using a 6:1 safety factor, which puts the burst pressure up at 14,700 psi. That 6:1 ratio is the one recommended when your system sees considerable hydraulic shock and mechanical strain. If your shock loading is more on the severe side, the manufacturer's guidance points toward an 8:1 safety factor, which would mean stepping down your working pressure further. On the flip side, if shock and strain are genuinely minimal in your setup, a 4:1 factor allowing higher working pressures can be carefully considered. For most industrial hydraulic work with real-world vibration and pressure spikes, the 6:1 number is the right one to plan around.
Question by: Merle P on Apr 6, 2025, 3:12 PM
What kind of pressure can this tubing handle without blowing?
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 8, 2025, 6:34 AM
Based on the Barlow formula, this tubing has a burst pressure of 14,700 PSI.
