Product Questions & Answers (4)

Question by: Dwayne B on Dec 15, 2025, 7:38 AM
what kind of pressure can this half inch line handle before it fails
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 16, 2025, 1:35 PM
You get a maximum working pressure of 1,797 psi on this 1/2-inch line. The burst pressure sits much higher at 10,780 psi, which provides a solid 6:1 safety factor based on the Barlow formula.
Question by: Earl C on Jun 25, 2025, 4:52 PM
trying to match up tubing i already got, what are the actual sizes on this one
Answer by: Customer Support on Jun 27, 2025, 11:26 AM
For sizing, it is 0.50 inch outside diameter with a 0.049 inch wall, which puts the inside diameter at about 0.402 inch.
Question by: Sheila R on Mar 5, 2026, 6:06 AM
tubing says it handles up to 1,797 psi working pressure, but we got some pretty rough shock loads in our system. should i be figuring on a lower number than that?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 7, 2026, 6:49 AM
For systems where hydraulic shock and mechanical strain are considerable, the working pressure is already calculated using a 6:1 safety factor against the burst pressure of 10,780 psi. If your shock loads are on the severe end, the recommendation is to apply an 8:1 safety factor, which means your actual safe working pressure should be figured lower than the listed 1,797 psi. That rated number assumes the 6:1 factor as a baseline. Size your system accordingly based on how rough the conditions really are.
Question by: Jerry B on Feb 19, 2026, 7:36 PM
I need some tubing that can handle a good amount of pressure. What's the max this stuff can take before it bursts?
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 21, 2026, 3:29 PM
This tubing is rated to withstand a burst pressure of up to 10,780 psi, as it's made to SAE J1065 standards.
