Product Questions & Answers (2)
Question by: Ross M on Dec 14, 2025, 8:30 AM
Working pressure on this is 1198 PSI, but we sometimes see hydraulic shock on our lines. How does that safety factor hold up under those conditions?
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 15, 2025, 9:09 PM
At 1198 PSI maximum working pressure, that figure already accounts for a 6:1 safety factor, which is the rating applied specifically for applications where considerable hydraulic shock and mechanical strain are present. The burst pressure on this tubing sits at 7,187 PSI, so there's real headroom built in. If your shock conditions are on the severe end, the spec notes that an 8:1 safety factor should be applied, which would mean running at lower working pressures than the 1198 PSI figure. For moderate shock environments, the 6:1 figure is what this tubing is rated and stocked for.
Question by: Howard E on Apr 10, 2025, 9:15 PM
got a tube bender and flaring tool, is this stuff friendly to bend and flare without cracking
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 12, 2025, 6:29 AM
Made to SAE J524, it is seamless low carbon steel tubing that is annealed specifically for bending and flaring, so it is a good match for that kind of shop work.
