Running a big diesel with a 2 and 7/8 inch coolant fitting on the upper hose connection, this the right size to swap in?

For a 2-7/8 inch ID fitting, yeah this one fits right. The inner diameter measures 2.88 inches, which lines up with standard 2-7/8 inch connections. It's a 36-inch length, so you've got enough to cut to fit or run as-is depending on your routing.
