trying to hook up a 1/2in JIC hose end to a G 1/2 BSPP port, is this the right elbow?

For that mix of threads, yes. One side is a 3/4 - 16 UNF male JIC and the other side is a G 1/2 - 14 male BSPP, both in the 1/2 inch size.
